I really love the pattern on "X" piece, but I would like it in other colours. Can you do this?
Sure! Simply fill out the contact form and I will be able to talk it through with you.
I love the range of materials you use, and the colours. Where do you get them from?
Various sources. I get some hand dyed wool from Germany at the moment, other sources have been re-enactment fairs, and my own stocks (and the local craft shops!). Thick Linen thread and silk comes from Texere yarns, and the Bockens linen I buy from William Hall (no online shop). The crochet cotton is available in a huge range of colours, and I buy it from Yarnstick. If you want to know which colours I have used, just let me know and I will be able to give you the colour code. If you order yarn from yarnstick, let them know where you got their details!
How come your prices per weave seem so varied? Why are some so expensive?
I price each piece of weaving individually based on material cost and the complexity of the weave. Some of the most complex looking patterns can be extremely time consuming to both thread up and weave. Simpler patterns that weave up quicker are priced accordingly. I try to be fairly consistent, but it is quite tricky to do.
I do historical re-enactment. Can I wear any of your pieces?
Some of them will be fine. Others will be of modern materials and colours and almost certainly would not be allowed. There are so many different periods that people re-enact that I have no idea about most of them. If in doubt, speak to the person in your organisation that knows about crafts.
Why are there sections for products on your site with no products in?
I am hoping to fill them up bit by bit! I have plenty ideas for products I want to create, and if I get a particular demand, I will make more of the product. If there is something you are interested in, please let me know.
I do tablet weaving too, where do you get your patterns?
I use two very clever pieces of software - Guntram's Tablet Weaving Thingie (GTT) and Malarky Crafts "Tablet Weaver". With GTT comes a huge pattern library, and I use his patterns, along with others that I have created myself. Other sources are from historical finds, or by sharing files with other tablet weavers around the world. If there's a pattern you love, let me know, and I can send you it!
